Palms Psalm is a music project led by first-generation Tongan-American cousins Eric Pasi, Danny Latu, Ofa Latu, and Malia Latu. Originally created by Pasi, the songs weave surf rock with island vibes, specifically recalling old Polynesian music dug up by Pasi.

The music is an outlet for socially-focused commentary on the climate crisis. In 2014 Pasi made a formative visit to Nukualofa, Tonga - his father’s homeland and site of recent volcanic devastation. Much of Tonga is just feet above sea-level, which was exposed by the resulting tsunami. After his father’s death in 2015 Pasi put his musical ambitions on the shelf to focus on climate solutions, and solar power specifically.

The debut album, Otuhaka, is a journey through Pasi’s life and heritage; protest undertones reflect anger at a world complacent with climate-fueled annihilation.

In 2023 Pasi invited Danny, Ofa, and Malia to join upcoming recordings and performances. The project is evolving to include additional Polynesian influences and artists. A new, expansive album is expected in 2025.
